Poetry Undercover

16 July, 2019 @ 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm

Free (book on eventbrite)

Poetry Undercover is a delightful new-ish spoken word event coming to Nottingham in the spirit of Dead Poets Society. We gather to share the words of our favourite poets, writers and personal influences, before opening up to free (and ever so slightly chaotic) discussion. Think of us as an appreciation group for wordsmiths of all sorts!

This month, on top of our usual sharing shenanigans, we have the amazing Trevor Wright joining us to read from his new collection and expand on the musical influences therein. Trevor is originally from Bulwell and works part time in social care specialising  in autism. He is a regular performer at poetry events in the Midlands, is Co-Director of the Derby Poetry Festival and currently Shadow Writer to Rob Gee at Glenfield Hospital on the Elder Tree Project. His second collection, Salt Flow, was published by Big White Shed in April 2019. He admits to being influenced as much by musicians as he is by poets and after a long time trying, thinks he may have finally worked out what he wants to be when he grows up. Time however, may not be on his side.

With really limited space available for readings, and tickets bookable in advance, be sure to get yourself down for this unique and special evening! Our lovely host will be there from 7:30, for a swift 8:00pm start.

Tickets are free, but we will pass a hat round at the end of the night in order to cover the cost of the venue. Attendees are asked to contribute whatever they can.
